Tewksbury boards review battery storage facility with $43.8 million commitment. The Select Board and Board of Health jointly examined the Hillman Energy Center Host Community Agreement for a 125-megawatt battery storage facility proposed for 7375 Hillman Street. The developer has committed to a minimum $2 million annual PILOT payment plus one percent CPA surcharge over 20 years, totaling more than $40 million, plus an additional $3.8 million in commitments.
The town has also secured a $50,000 property compensation fund for residents within 650 feet of the facility. Approximately 17 residents expressed concerns about property values, safety, and emergency response during an extended public comment period.
