TEWKSBURY — Conservation Commission deferred battery-storage decision to allow peer review. The Commission continued its public hearing on a proposed Battery Storage Facility with Hillman Energy Center at 73-75 Hillman Street to June 10 to accommodate a pending technical review. Tyler Rynne presented the project on behalf of East Point Energy, with consultants detailing storm water improvements that would reduce impervious surface by approximately half an acre.
Extensive public comment raised concerns about environmental risk, impacts to surrounding areas, thermal runoff in a fire event, and containment measures. Chairman Daniel Ronan addressed questions about the proceedings and noted that Town Counsel and the State Ethics Lawyer had raised no concerns. The commission voted 4-0 with one abstention to continue the hearing.
