TEWKSBURY — Conservation Commission approved five residential determinations and two emergency certifications while continuing a battery storage facility hearing. The commission issued negative determinations for residential projects at five locations including an accessory dwelling unit, sewer tie-in, and driveway expansions, all unanimously approved. Two certificates of compliance for completed work also passed unanimously, one with a condition for future wetland replication.
The proposed battery energy storage system by East Point Energy at 73-75 Hillman Street drew substantial public comment on stormwater management and wetland impacts, with residents questioning whether vegetated systems should be required. The commission voted to continue the hearing to September 2 for further review and public input.
