TEWKSBURY — Finance Committee rejects full Shawsheen Tech budget, approves 5/12th alternative. The committee voted 4-3 to recommend funding the district at five-twelfths of its $9,560,993 request, avoiding a special town meeting while pressing for fiscal accountability. Chair Richard Levasseur and members cited unreconciled accounts, unresolved financial discrepancies, and a ten-month-old state audit with no results.
The committee also adopted a 5-2 statement rejecting the requested appropriation and demanding a comprehensive written recovery plan with clear milestones before any future capital project of the estimated $350 million scale could be supported.
