Select Board backs school modernization plan, renames Town Hall

Tewksbury Select Board advances $205 million school modernization plan toward 2030 town vote. JCJ Architecture Principal Doug Roberts presented the School Facilities Study Committee's findings, noting that Heath Brook Elementary (built 1957) and Dewing Elementary require the most renovation. The committee recommended Option 2, which would cost the town approximately $123 million under the Massachusetts School Building Authority's Core Program (60 percent town share), with a projected town vote in 2030 and occupancy by Fall 2033.
The Board unanimously renamed Tewksbury Town Hall to Tewksbury Memorial Town Hall. The Board also unanimously approved a Common Victualler License for Melmark, Inc. d/b/a Elaina's Donuts, which will operate a coffee shop at 910 Andover Street Monday through Saturday, 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Board extended Trahan School's lease-option period by three months (vote: 4-1, with Board Member James F.
Mackey III voting against).
