TEWKSBURY — Select Board and Planning Board defer MBTA Communities Act decision, pending state guidance. The Commonwealth filed a compliance complaint against Tewksbury for failing to accommodate 1,214 affordable housing units, risking appointment of a state-imposed special master if the town does not submit an acceptable plan. Vice Chair Eric Ryder noted the town has already lost $1.7 million in grant funding due to noncompliance.
Chair Mark Kratman proposed counting over 500 units built in the past five years toward the requirement and suggested Clark Road as a potential housing district. Community/Economic Development Planner Alexandra Lowder will solicit state regulatory parameters before the boards reconvene.
