Commission approves McNeil Way pool, delays six cases

Conservation · Meeting of September 2, 2026

Tewksbury's Conservation Commission approves a pool near wetlands, punts six other cases to September 16. Gibraltar Pools' Jay Henshaw won approval for a roughly 13,000-gallon above-ground pool at 45 McNeil Way after agreeing to keep winterizing discharge away from wetlands. A proposed garage addition at 221 Mitchell G Drive, presented by builder Nicholas Boucher, stalled over a disputed town-owned drainage basin that members said "does look like a wetland," sending the case back to September 16 for an informal boundary flagging.

The board also ratified an emergency septic repair on Rogers Street and an enforcement order over unpermitted tree cutting on Pinnacle Street, and opened talks on new rules for pools and lithium-ion battery storage near wetlands, citing a battery fire elsewhere that "contaminated the groundwater."
