Tewksbury Finance Committee approves $25,000 emergency transfer for police station heating repairs. The committee voted unanimously Monday to move funds from the general fund reserve to fix failing fresh-air intake louvers at the police station, a problem discovered accidentally during previously approved HVAC work. Town Manager John warned the panel that if the system failed, the building could suffer significant cold-weather damage, and contractors were ready to proceed pending authorization.

In separate FY27 budget reviews, the town's solid waste budget was proposed at $2.4 million, down roughly $172,000 on lower tonnage and disposal costs, while group insurance was flagged as rising 13 percent to $1.9 million. The Shawsheen Valley Technical High School assessment is set to rise 5.2 percent to approximately $9.56 million, the second-lowest increase among member communities, but the town manager said he would advise the Select Board to oppose a forthcoming Shawsheen warrant article seeking member-town funds for a facilities study, saying the district first needed to "get their financial house in order."
