TEWKSBURY — The Tewksbury School Committee approved a $141,000 transfer to cover a school health account shortfall at its first meeting under new Superintendent Dr. Nancy Milligan. Business Manager David Libby told the committee the gap stemmed from an unposted retiree charge and about 21 additional employees joining the health plan, with family-plan costs running $25,000 to $30,000 per employee versus $10,000 to $12,000 for single coverage. The transfer passed 5-0 by roll call, with Chris Kingston, Ryan Lloyd, Chris Moncada, Kayla Biagioni-Smith and Chair Bridget Garabedian all voting aye.
The committee also certified four payroll periods totaling more than $5.8 million, adopted policies on bus driver training and student entrance age, approved four DECA field trips including an out-of-state Louisville, Kentucky conference, and welcomed new member Kingston, appointed jointly with the Select Board on June 30. Libby said the transfer "didn't change the FY27 budget."
