Select Board OKs revised pay plan warrant article

Select Board · Meeting of September 22, 2026

Tewksbury Select Board revises pay plan warrant article hours before posting deadline. Town Manager John Curran told the board the town moderator flagged transparency concerns with Article III, a placeholder article tied to a still-unfinished FY27 pay plan, prompting staff to insert the current non-union wage scale directly into the warrant and add a QR code linking to the finalized plan once posted by September 28. Vice Chair Mark Kratman confirmed the wage study consultant meets September 24, with union wage figures handled separately through bargaining starting in January.

Member James F. Mackey III questioned whether the pay plan even needs town meeting approval as a bylaw item, saying "I definitely think it's still good to have that transparency, as people are aware." The board voted 4-0 with Mackey abstaining to recommend Article 3 "as printed in the warrant," then voted 5-0 to adjourn.
