Tewksbury School Committee Approves Broadway Overnight Trip and French Exchange Program
TEWKSBURY — November 19, 2025 — Tewksbury School Committee unanimously approved an overnight Broadway trip for drama students and a new French exchange program at its November 19 meeting. The board, meeting at Center Elementary School with four of five members present, voted 4-0 to authorize a spring 2026 overnight trip to New York City for up to 44 students in grades 7 through 12, priced comparably to last year's day-trip cost of approximately $286 per student, with the group staying one night at a New Jersey hotel and attending two Broadway shows. The committee also approved expanding its existing Spanish exchange program and launching a new French exchange of up to 10 students through the same travel company, Promotour, at a student cost of $2,825 for the Spanish program. Assistant Superintendent Nancy Milligan reported that Wynn Middle School earned a DESE School of Recognition designation — one of only six middle schools statewide — on the strength of student growth percentiles of 66 in math and 67 in ELA, while the high school led surrounding districts with an 11-percentage-point improvement in math. The committee tabled policy IKFE on competency determination until December after staff identified missing text in the draft.
