Tewksbury School Committee votes unanimously to offer superintendent post to Milligan

Tewksbury School Committee votes 5-0 to offer superintendent position to Dr. Nancy Milligan. The committee made the unanimous decision Wednesday night following a public interview in which Milligan, the district's current assistant superintendent, fielded five questions on literacy data, equitable learning, transportation and out-of-district placement costs, facilities planning, and the district strategic plan.

Chair Bridget Garabedian said the offer is subject to reference checks and contract negotiations, with next steps to be finalized at the March 18 meeting. Member Chris Moncada cited a stakeholder feedback process that drew "overwhelming responses in a very positive direction" about the internal candidate. Milligan, who has served in the district for two years under outgoing Superintendent Brenda Theriault-Regan and has 12 years of experience as an assistant superintendent, said in her closing statement that she is "ready to serve as the next superintendent of the Tewksbury Public Schools."
