Tewksbury School Committee Launches Superintendent Search Amid Wave of Senior Retirements
TEWKSBURY — January 14, 2026 — Tewksbury School Committee launches superintendent search as four senior administrators announce retirements. The committee voted unanimously at its January 14 meeting to accept retirement notices from Superintendent Brenda Theriault-Regan, effective June 30, 2026; Business Manager David Libby, effective December 5, 2026; Wynn Middle School Principal John Weir, effective June 30, 2026; and Ryan Elementary School Secretary Maria Daugherty, effective December 15, 2028. Chair Bridget Garabedian unveiled an aggressive search timeline, with a community survey going out January 15 and stakeholder listening sessions with union leaders and the public scheduled for January 21, saying the goal was to "define a profile that we can all rely on." The committee also approved $1.4 million in mid-year budget transfers and heard a mid-year strategic plan check-in from Theriault-Regan and Assistant Superintendent Nancy Milligan, who described the district's instructional support and special education goal as "the most complex part of our strategic plan" and explicitly a multi-year commitment.
